FAQ's

Q. The Throat Mic. plug only has 5 pins. Will it work on my Harley socket that has 7 pins ?

A. Yes. The extra 2 pins are for the PTT* button that is used only with a handheld Microphone. The Throat Mic. does not have a PTT button, You are using the built-in PTT on the handlebar of your HD.

*PTT = Push To Talk

Q. Can you hear music on the earpiece ?

A. Yes, But only mono. We recommend using the 4 speakers on the bike. You will get a much better sound from the speakers than the best earphones in the helmet. This way you can also use half helmet with no earphones on it. You can also change helmets as Throat Mic. is not connected to the helmet.

Q. How can I hear the music and the CB at the same time ?

A. On the Harley Ultra Classic, there is a knob with 3 positions on the front to activate the speakers:

Position 1. Speakers will play music and will sound the CB when it comes on. (You can disconnect the Earphone from the body by pulling it out from the case).  Best option for use

Position 2. Speakers will play music and the CB will sound on your earphone without cutting out the music.

Position 3. The music and the CB will sound on the earphone on mono only. The speakers are not connected.

Q. How about the intercom on the Harley ?

A. It is not recommended for intercom between driver and passenger. It is designed mostly for the CB.

Q. How do I disconnect the earphone ? Will it damage the Mic?

A. Just pull the round black base of the earphone from the body. It will not harm the Mic. in any way.

Q. I do not have a CB on my bike. How can I use it ?

A. Sorry, Must have a CB to use it. Any HD dealer will install one on your bike

Q. I was wondering if it comes in a different sizes ? Where the sensors need to be on the neck ?

A. It comes only in one size and it’s sliding in and out on the side. The 2 mics can be any place on your neck. They are very sensitive and no need to talk loudly on it.

The throat microphone is picking up audio directly from vocal cord vibrations which blocks background noise .You have to try it a few times till you find out how loud to talk.

Q. How is the earphone connected to the microphone ? How many wires are in the earphone plug ?

A. The earphone is an air system. No wires connection, it’s weather proofed. Built in the base is a small speaker that sends acoustic waves throw a small pipe to the earphone.

Q. I got the Microphone but it does not work on my Harley ?

A.  All Mics are tested before shipped to the customer. Most likely you are doing something wrong adjusting your system. A good way to check if the Throat Mic works is : Turn on the Intercom on your system, adjusted it to number 10 sensitivity. Plug in the throat Mic to the din plug. Put music in high volume on the speakers. Move the speakers button on the front dashboard to a position that you can hear music on the earphone of the Throat Mic. After you hear music from the earphone tap lightly with your finger on the round end of the Mic, you should see on the stereo display how it jumps to intercom mode. After a few second it will go back automatically  to music mode. Try the same again on the other round piece (Mic) for the same results. This will show you that the Mic and the earphone are working fine and the problem is with the setting of your system. For the best results. Please refer to your HD manual book to find out more info how to set up the CB with headphones and Mic.

Some of the common problem is to forget to turn up the volume for the CB or press the PTT button, also make sure that after you choose the channel on the CB to press again to confirm it. Same as with the intercom sensitivity adjustment.

Q. What is the weight of the throat mic unit?
